Newcastle United Football Club is an English professional football club based in Newcastle, nicknamed the Magpies, who now play in the English Premiership league. Newcastle United supporters are known as the Toon Army or the Geordies on the basis of their place. The club was founded in 1892 after the merger of two local clubs Newcastle East and Newcastle West.
They are now the manager Glenn Roeder has appointed Kevin Bond as his assistant since June 2006. Local clubs are rivals Sunderland and Middlesbrough.
